here is Alexandre Rostovtsevs driver for Lenovo "Thinkpad" SL Series Laptops without the brightness driver. It didn't compile to newer kernels and the Asus driver (or something else) works with my brightness fine.
Anyway I have no idea about kernel hacking nor how the rest of this driver works. I only removed the brightness part of the code. So please don't ask my why anything doesn't work.
